RaceBets New ID: Horse Racing Bet Types Explained From Win to Tricast

RaceBets is a Malta-based horse racing specialist bookmaker holding Malta and UK licences and covering racing from dozens of countries. GameWinExch is not affiliated with RaceBets and cannot open or issue a RaceBets account, and the rupee betting IDs it issues over WhatsApp are its own product. Horse racing has the oldest and most elaborate betting vocabulary of any sport, and an Indian bettor whose experience is cricket match odds meets a wall of terms on first contact: each-way, forecast, ante-post, starting price. This page defines each bet type, shows how it is settled, and suggests which ones make sense for someone following racing at odd hours from India.

Win

The simplest bet: your horse must finish first. A 500 rupee win bet at 6.0 returns 3,000 rupees including stake if the horse wins and nothing otherwise. In a field of ten with a favourite at 3.0, the win market is where most money and the sharpest prices are found, and it is the only racing bet that maps directly onto a cricket match-odds bet.

Place and Each-Way

A place bet pays if the horse finishes within a set number of positions, usually the first two in fields of five to seven, the first three in fields of eight or more, and the first four in handicaps of 16 or more runners. An each-way bet is two bets in one: half the stake on the win and half on the place, with the place portion paid at a fraction of the win odds, commonly a fifth or a quarter. A 500 rupee each-way bet is 250 to win and 250 to place. If the horse is 11.0 to win and the place terms are a fifth of the odds for three places, a third-place finish pays 250 at 3.0, returning 750 rupees, so the bet loses 250 overall but not 500. A win pays both halves: 250 at 11.0 plus 250 at 3.0, returning 3,500. Each-way is the natural bet for horses at 8.0 or longer, where the place portion has real value.

Forecast and Tricast

A straight forecast asks you to name the first two horses in the correct order; a reverse forecast covers both orders for double the stake. A tricast names the first three in order, and a combination tricast covers every ordering of three horses for six times the stake. Payouts are computed after the race from a formula based on the starting prices of the horses involved rather than quoted in advance, and they can be very large: a tricast in a 16-runner handicap with outsiders placing can return several hundred times the stake. The margin built into the formula is also large, often 20 percent or more, so these are lottery-style bets to be placed in small amounts.

Ante-Post Versus Day-of-Race

Ante-post betting means backing a horse days, weeks or months before a race, for example on a Derby favourite in January for a race in June. Prices are longer because uncertainty is greater, but the crucial rule is that ante-post bets are usually lost if the horse does not run, whether through injury, a change of plan or failing to be declared. Day-of-race bets, struck after final declarations, are refunded if the horse is withdrawn. The trade-off is price against the risk of a non-runner, and it is the single most common source of disappointment for newcomers.

Starting Price and Best Odds Guaranteed

The starting price, abbreviated SP, is the official odds at the moment the race begins, derived from prices offered on the racecourse. A bet taken at SP has no price at the time it is placed; you receive whatever the SP turns out to be. Bookmakers in some markets offer best odds guaranteed, meaning that if you take an early price and the SP is longer, you are paid at the SP. This is a genuine concession worth having, and its absence on a given platform is worth noting.

Rule 4 and Non-Runners

If a horse is withdrawn after you have placed a bet at a fixed price, the remaining horses become more likely to win, so bookmakers deduct a percentage from winnings under a scale known as Rule 4. The deduction depends on the withdrawn horse’s price: a 2.0 favourite withdrawn triggers a deduction of about 45 pence in the pound, while a 20.0 outsider triggers 5 pence or nothing. Bets on the withdrawn horse itself are refunded. The Ostlers Racing page covers the racecourse mechanics behind this rule.

Which Bets Suit an Indian Fan

Most European racing runs between 5.30 in the evening and 1 in the morning IST, and Australian racing falls in the Indian morning, so timing shapes what is practical.

  • Win singles at fixed prices are the sensible core, with the tightest margins and the least confusion.
  • Each-way on horses at 8.0 or longer in big fields, where three or four places are paid.
  • Small forecast bets occasionally, treated as entertainment.
  • Avoid ante-post unless you accept losing the stake on a non-runner.

Racing markets appear on a GameWinExch panel alongside cricket and football, settled at fixed prices in rupees. The Palmerbet page explains how to read a form card before choosing a horse, and the off-track betting page covers how racing bets away from the course are treated in India.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can GameWinExch register me on RaceBets?

No. GameWinExch has no relationship with RaceBets and cannot create accounts there. It provides its own rupee betting IDs only.

Is each-way always better than a win bet?

No. On short-priced horses the place portion returns less than its stake, so each-way wastes half the bet. It earns its keep at 8.0 or longer with generous place terms.

What does it mean if my horse is a non-runner?

For a day-of-race bet the stake is refunded. For an ante-post bet it is normally lost, which is the main risk of betting early.

Which racing is available on a GameWinExch ID?

Coverage varies by day and includes British, Irish, Australian and selected Indian meetings when markets are available. Ask the desk for the current list.

Racing bets are for adults aged 18 and above. Keep stakes at a level you would spend on any hobby, treat forecasts and tricasts as small-change fun, and ask the desk to pause your ID whenever you need a break.
