GemBet New ID
GemBet New ID: Fan-Tan, Pai Gow Tiles and the Old Chinese Table Games
GemBet is an online casino aimed at players in Singapore and Malaysia, and its lobby is a good example of how Asian-facing casinos look different from European ones: alongside slots and baccarat you find Fan-Tan, Pai Gow tiles, Fish Prawn Crab and other games that Macau and the old gambling houses of Guangdong were running long before roulette reached the region. GameWinExch is not affiliated with GemBet and cannot open a GemBet account. Our ID is a rupee betting account issued over WhatsApp and funded by UPI, and it comes with a casino section of its own. If you have ever wondered what those unfamiliar games are and whether they are worth a rupee, this page explains the rules briefly and the house edge honestly.
Fan-Tan: Counting Beads in Fours
Fan-Tan is the simplest of the group and the oldest. A dealer covers a pile of small buttons or beads with a cup, removes the cup, and counts the beads away in groups of four with a small stick. The bet is on how many remain at the end: one, two, three or four (a remainder of zero is called four). Backing a single number pays 3 to 1 before commission, which sounds fair for a one-in-four chance, and would be if the house did not take about 5 percent of winnings. That commission gives a house edge of around 3.75 percent on a straight number bet. The game also offers Nim bets, where you back two numbers with one as the main pick and the other as a push, and Kwok bets on any two numbers at even money minus commission. Every version carries the same order of edge; the variety is in the shape of the payout, not its size.
Pai Gow Tiles: 32 Dominoes and a Lot of Memory
Pai Gow with tiles is the hard one. Thirty-two Chinese dominoes are shuffled and stacked, each player and the dealer receive four, and each must split them into two hands of two, a high hand and a low hand. Both hands are scored by an unusual ranking: certain named pairs beat everything, a few combinations called Wongs and Gongs come next, and the rest are scored by the last digit of the total pips, so 13 counts as 3. To win a bet you must win both hands against the dealer; win one and lose one and the bet pushes. Ties go to the banker. With optimal play the house edge is roughly 1.5 to 2 percent, comparable to the better baccarat bets, but optimal play requires memorising which of the sixteen pairs rank where and how to split awkward hands. The version most online casinos actually offer is Pai Gow Poker, invented in California in the 1980s, which uses playing cards, keeps the two-hand structure, and carries an edge of about 2.5 to 2.7 percent with the standard 5 percent commission on wins.
Fish Prawn Crab: A Dice Game With a Sting
Hoo Hey How, usually translated as Fish Prawn Crab, is three dice showing six pictures instead of pips: fish, prawn, crab, rooster, gourd and coin. You bet on a symbol; it pays 1 to 1 if one die shows it, 2 to 1 for two dice, 3 to 1 for three. That is exactly the structure of the carnival game Chuck-a-Luck, and the maths is identical: the house edge is about 7.9 percent, more than double Fan-Tan and four times single-zero roulette. It is fast, colourful and very popular at street festivals for a reason, and that reason is not that players win.
Why These Games Sit Beside Andar Bahar
Live-dealer studios serving Asia learned that players want the games they grew up around, so a lobby built for Kuala Lumpur or Singapore stacks Fan-Tan next to Sic Bo and Dragon Tiger, just as a lobby built for India stacks Andar Bahar next to Teen Patti and Lucky 7. The studios are often the same ones, and the mechanics rhyme. Andar Bahar is a coin flip with a small house tilt; Fan-Tan is a four-way flip with a commission; Dragon Tiger is baccarat with the middle cut out. None of them ask anything of the player except a stake and a guess, which is precisely why they are easy to enjoy and easy to overspend on.
A Rupee Comparison
Put the edges side by side at a flat 200 rupee bet and sixty bets an hour, which is a relaxed live-dealer pace.
- Pai Gow tiles, played well: roughly 1.75 percent edge, expected loss about 210 rupees an hour.
- Baccarat banker: about 1.06 percent, roughly 127 rupees an hour.
- Fan-Tan single number: about 3.75 percent, roughly 450 rupees an hour.
- Andar Bahar: around 2.5 to 3 percent depending on the payout table, roughly 300 to 360 rupees an hour.
- Fish Prawn Crab: about 7.9 percent, roughly 950 rupees an hour.
The expected loss is the price of the hour. A game that costs 950 rupees an hour for the same excitement as one that costs 130 is not a mystery of the East; it is just an expensive seat. Our casino betting ID page lists which of these tables are available on a rupee panel, and the baccarat guide covers the cheapest of them in detail.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a GameWinExch ID log in to GemBet?
No. GemBet serves Singapore and Malaysia with its own accounts and currencies. Our rupee ID is separate and works only on the panel we issue it for.
Is Fan-Tan a skill game?
No. The remainder after counting in fours is random. The only decisions are which bet type to place and how much, and neither changes the edge.
Why do casinos take commission instead of paying less?
Tradition and psychology. A 3 to 1 payout feels fair, and a 5 percent commission on wins is easier to overlook than a payout of 2.85 to 1.
Is Pai Gow Poker the same as Pai Gow tiles?
No. Pai Gow Poker uses cards and poker rankings and is far easier to learn. The tile game uses 32 dominoes and a ranking system that takes real study.
Which of these games is available with rupees?
Andar Bahar, Teen Patti, Dragon Tiger and baccarat are standard on Indian panels. Fan-Tan and tile Pai Gow appear only in some Asian live lobbies.
Old games or new, the table keeps its edge every hour you sit there; set a loss limit before the first bead is counted, and stay away entirely if you are under 18.
